A while later, Stobbe was tending to a quayside fire when a friend told him to look up. A little later, she sent a photo of windmills in the water, and then another of herself at the steering wheel. Just before boarding the submarine around 7 pm, Wall texted Stobbe a photo of the Nautilus. It was, von Bengtson wrote in 2011 on a WIRED blog he started that year about the rocket building, “the ultimate DIY project.” Madsen and von Bengtson were among them, occupying a hangar, and financing Copenhagen Suborbitals with crowdfunded donations. That industry’s decline had left empty warehouses and factories, which had been reclaimed by artists, engineers, and other creative types. The two set up shop on Refshaleøen, an area of the city that extends into Copenhagen’s harbor and once had been the heart of Denmark’s shipping empire. Their plan was to launch the first manned built-from-scratch rocket. He and a former NASA contractor named Kristian von Bengtson cofounded a company called Copenhagen Suborbitals. Shortly after the launch of the Nautilus, Madsen started another venture. Unlike Nemo, Madsen had stayed close to home in Denmark, but he had devoted his life to building audacious vehicles of his own design, ones that might venture high above the atmosphere or down into the depths of the ocean. Jules Verne’s antihero Captain Nemo was a figure who lived outside social laws, sailing the seven seas in search of total freedom. Madsen christened the vessel the UC3 Nautilus, after the fictional submarine in Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. Peter Madsen, the designer of the vessel and the organizer of the day’s event, climbed into the hatch, smiling in a white skipper’s hat, before the submarine motored into the water. The onlookers cheered as the submarine floated for the first time. Part art project, part engineering feat, the submarine weighed 40 tons and had been built by volunteers at minimal cost from donated iron and other parts. On May 3, 2008, a sunny Saturday in Copenhagen, a crowd gathered along a dock to watch a 58-foot submarine be lowered into the water. George tells Elaine that it's because Jewish men are attracted to non-Jewish women, a concept called shiksappeal. Before he leaves, Lloyd warns George the "serenity now" mantra is actually harmful, as it bottles up emotions. Lloyd is fired when George appears to outsell him. Frank hires his son George and George's childhood rival, Lloyd Braun, as computer telemarketers. This was the third episode of the ninth and final season. " The Serenity Now" is the 159th episode of the NBC sitcom Seinfeld. Ruth Cohen as Ruthie Cohen (uncredited).7*.3rd episode of the 9th season of Seinfeld " The Serenity Now" At the end of the day, Serenity achieves a good dose of action and suspense. In the opening scenes, the acting seems somewhat under par, but the as SERENITY progresses, you see that the performances achieved, usually are in good agreement with the characters. As for dialog, there is usually a true skill and deft coolness in the use of language that is not heard and in many dramatic films. They combine good action scenes, a certain originality, outstanding visuals, and a script that never tries to overcome the context and tone of the story, as us the case in many other films. The scenes where CGI us used are well executed. Now, I don't know about you, but as far as I can remember, this is the first time that I've ever seen this! In fact, this is quite a cinematic event, because now Latinos can be assigned all sorts of roles, not just Hispanic ones! There is absolutely NO serenity in Serenity! A tad violent, at times, but nothing really excessive, when taking into account its genre of "Action / Adventure / Sci-Fi / Thriller". All three women have a very Latin look, yet, at no time, is there ever any mention of their ethnicity. The three main female roles are played by Gina Torres (Cuban-American), Morena Baccarin (Brazil) and Summer Glau (San Antonio, Texas, an American city whose population is nearly 50% Mexican-American). (Except if you're a fan of the canceled Firefly series, which served as inspiration for the film.) From the get-go, I noticed something that really caught my attention. The cast, as is almost always the case in the genre, is composed of little known actors. Well, there are still surprises in life! Although I wouldn't quite give it an 8, SERENITY has much more going for it than against it. However, as Sci-Fi movies frequently have legions of fans that rate it "10", sometimes there is quite a breach between the reality of the film and it's apparent rating! Consequently, I went to see Serenity with relatively low expectations. Incredibly high! Among the 100,000 titles contained therein, Serenity has to be among the 300 highest. Worse still, if the genre of the film is Sci-Fi! Upon reviewing Serenity's stats on IMDb, before seeing it, I found myself looking at a rating of 8 out of 10. CA CALI, COLOMBIA+ORLANDO, FL Movies inspired by TV shows have always inspired my mistrust. It’s possible to keep a gas model running for 10 years or more and repower it if necessary. Two, at the moment, you need to plan for long charge times.Ī third consideration is simply that this class of electric lawn mower is still relatively new. One, there’s a big premium on the cost compared to a gas model. However, there are two key trade-offs you need to keep in mind. The models we’ve tested work well and do the job they’re designed for. Homeowners have more choices with well-known brands Ryobi, Cub Cadet, and EGO (along with several others) providing a handful of zero turns and more traditional lawn tractors. Professional crews have options such as Greenworks’ Lithium Z zero turn (they also have a battery-powered UTV). There are a few riding mowers available for both professional and homeowner use. It won’t have the noise, emission, and maintenance benefits, though. When you look at what you can get for the same price on a gas mower, you get more power and features from that gas engine. While you can get a battery lawn mower for less than $300, plan on spending at least $500 for a quality model and more than $700 for the best electric lawn mowers. These electric mowers are a long way away from when we started with battery power. Best Electric Lawn Mower Buying GuideĪs you’re deciding on the best battery lawn mower for you in 2022, there’s a lot to consider. An expensive model may very well be the best battery mower value if it’s performing far enough ahead of the budget brands to justify it. It’s about what you get for what you pay. In addition to any standout features, here’s a list of the standard items we look for:įor our team of experts, value is much more than just price. We drive or push our mowers to see how well they hold wheel traction mowing uphill, downhill, side-to-side, and bumping along. But we do have sloped lakesides and ditches to go along with plenty of uneven ground. Sure, it’s Florida and we don’t have many legit hills. We’re looking for solid components that will last well beyond the warranty period, a rigid construction, and protection for the electrical components and batteries. We consider the quality of the build based on the materials and how well the mower is put together. Mulching efficiency takes in consideration the size of the clippings the mower drops and whether it creates any clumping or trailing. We test three basic areas of cut quality: evenness, bagging efficiency, and mulching efficiency.Įvenness is simple enough-we gauge how even the cut is by looking for blades that stick out and areas that may have been cut shorter than intended.īagging efficiency is a matter of seeing how much grass is left behind compared to the amount that is collected in the bag. Once we know that, we calculate the maximum area you should be able to mow without having to stop and recharge. We start with a section of grass cut to a standard height and then see how long we can mow on one battery charge as we cut it down to 3 inches. The best information is how much area you can cut on a charge. How much runtime an electric lawn mower has is only part of the equation. The more effectively a battery-powered lawn mower can reclaim overgrowth and the shorter it can effectively cut a baseline height, the more working power it has. To gauge it, we cut an overgrown section of grass to a manageable height and follow it up by seeing how short we can cut an even standard height section of grass. Our Top Picks Each episode’s longform interview gives O’Brien much more to work with than the two-anecdotes-and-a-clip format of American talkshows (and lets him talk to people he genuinely admires, like biographer Robert Caro) while the segments that bookend the interviews allow him to indulge his more gleefully dickish nature. The calibre of comics featured is impossibly high (Martin Short, Seth Rogen, Jenny Slate, Jamie Demetriou) and, by filtering the conversation through the specific choices that informed their work, the interviews are impressively intimate. The premise of the podcast is that Fox and his comedian guests drill down into one specific joke of theirs. Good One Although in itself very funny, Good One – hosted by Vulture’s Jesse David Fox – also has the distinction of actually being about comedy. If they can’t (like Pauly Shore) it is astonishing. If they can (like Tom Scharpling, the unofficial third host), it is wonderful. Part of the joy is hearing a guest audibly struggle to adapt their shtick to the insular tone of the hosts. Soon, though, something will click and you’ll have a new favourite podcast. The first is utter hopelessness, as hosts Sean Clement and Hayes Davenport (two comedy writers with very similar voices) throw out a barrage of context-free references to life in Tinseltown. Hollywood Handbook There are two stages to listening to Hollywood Handbook. The fact that Gamble and Acaster can deal with both is hugely impressive. As you’d expect, plenty of British comedians pass through the gate, but their numbers are occasionally peppered with more unexpected names from the world of showbiz (see: Gok Wan and, er, Ross Kemp) and members of the comedy elite that the hosts desperately want to impress (David Cross, Michael McKean). On paper the premise has the potential to be grindingly repetitious – because, honestly, nobody cares about your preferred method of potato preparation – but what really makes the podcast sing is the spectrum of its bookings. While the term “supermodel” may have lost some of its luster, it’s important to recognize the evolving nature of the fashion industry and the opportunities provided by this shift. In conclusion, the era of traditional supermodels may have given way to a new landscape where social media and influencers hold significant sway. However, this shift isn’t necessarily negative. Therefore, it can be argued that supermodels no longer exist. In the past, successful models were often discovered at a young age or had family ties in the industry, surrounded by an air of mystery and the expectation of being seen rather than heard. Models now have the opportunity to develop their own voice and wield influence. The advertising industry now gravitates towards pop stars and actresses, leaving little space for the supermodels of yesteryear.Īccording to trend forecaster and fashion expert Mandy Lee, the term “supermodel” lost its relevance around 2010 due to the rise of social media. Even Claudia Schiffer expresses uncertainty about the existence of supermodels today, noting that being simultaneously recognized on covers worldwide is nearly impossible. Whitney Fransway and More Bachelor Nation Stars Slay in Itty-Bitty Bikinis Read article This prickly feeling is known as paresthesia, which is usually a temporary condition caused by a blood flow blockage within the nervous system, according to University of Rochester Medical Center. “Tingling in the feet is a very common symptom and usually does not indicate a serious problem,” says William Buxton, M.D., neurologist and director of Neuromuscular and Neurodiagnostic Medicine and Fall Prevention at Pacific Neuroscience Institute at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California. And when you get that familiar pins-and-needles feeling in your feet or numbness in your toes, typically it’s easy to fix: Reposition yourself to take the pressure off of your nerves, and you’re good to go. Seek medical attention, if you think you have experienced a seizure.Tingling in your feet is not usually cause for concern. Partial seizures can manifest in different ways, with a wide array of symptoms that range from abnormal muscle contraction or eye movements to sweating or hallucinations. Partial seizures are the most common type of seizure. Seizures are caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain, and one type of seizure, called a partial or focal seizure, can be associated with abnormal sensations such as numbness or tingling of the skin. If you are experiencing any of these issues, it’s a good idea to see your doctor to be evaluated. Other common symptoms of multiple sclerosis include vision problems, such as blurriness and double vision, as well as fatigue, muscle weakness and loss of balance and coordination. Numbness or tingling can sometimes be a sign of multiple sclerosis, a disease in which the body mistakenly attacks the nerve coating, called myelin, in the central nervous system. The symptoms usually come on quickly, and when they do, it’s imperative to get medical attention immediately. Recognizing the symptoms of a stroke is critical to preventing death or permanent damage. Other telltale stroke symptoms include severe headache, trouble speaking or walking, dizziness and confusion. Strokes occur when blood flow to the brain is interrupted by a blood clot or a broken blood vessel, and symptoms can include numbness in the arm, face or leg - often on one side of the body. Treatment options include medications for nerve pain and physical therapy. If you think your symptoms might be peripheral neuropathy, talk to your doctor. Other symptoms of peripheral neuropathy include numbness, pain or weakness in your arms, feet, legs or hands. About half of people with diabetes develop peripheral neuropathy, which is caused by high blood sugar over time. Numbness or tingling in the arms will not likely be the first sign of type 2 diabetes, but if you already know you have the disease, you should be on the lookout for this symptom, as it could signal a type of nerve damage called peripheral neuropathy. “There are tests and imaging studies that can be helpful in making the proper diagnosis,” he explains. If you’re experiencing tingling, numbness or pain in your arm, Dr. This is especially true, if your symptoms start in your neck and travel down into your arm, he adds. Other clues that your arm tingling is related to your neck include neck pain and stiffness. When there is a problem in the neck, such as an irritated or pinched nerve, this can cause symptoms like tingling or numbness that travels into the arm.” “The nerves originate from the spinal cord in the neck and travel down from the spine into the arm and hands. When the discs between the vertebrae in your neck bulge or slide out of place, arm tingling can be a clue that it’s happening. While it may not be the first thing that comes to your mind, the source of your arm tingling may actually be your neck. Have you ever woken up with a pins and needles sensation on the arm you were sleeping on? Or, maybe, you were leaning back on your arm, and it went numb? These odd tingles are caused by pressure on a nerve, and luckily, they go away, when the pressure is taken off.īut, when bad posture isn’t to blame for arm numbness and tingling, it could be a sign of a medical condition. So if I use this a hundred times in my document I have an easy way to change the amount of the hanging indent throughout the document in one go. If I hit Update not only does it update that style but it updates the other paragraphs using that style. Now I've changed it and you can see it's Body With Hanging Indent with an asterisk next to it. The advantage of doing it that way is that I can go here and say that's a little bit too much of an indent. If I go down to this paragraph, say, I can click here and do Body With Hanging Indent and that one has a hanging indent but not the second paragraph. Now I have a second style here that I can use somewhere else. Instead of doing Update I'm going to click the little Reveal button here and I'm going to hit + and create a new style, Body 1. You can see I get hanging indents for all the paragraphs. If I click on Update it will update all of the paragraphs using Body style to use this specific style. So I can save it to reuse in other paragraphs very easily by going over here and not clicking on Update. Now I don't have this saved as a style anywhere. That's the difference between these two styles. That's because this one has the indenting there and these others don't. All the other paragraphs show Body with no asterisk and this one shows an asterisk. So here I've got the cursor in this first paragraph and if you look under Format at the top it shows me I'm using the Body style and there's an asterisk next to it showing it's a variation of the Body style. But if you're going to want to use this more than one time in your document you're going to want to create a Style for it. But you can then move the First one independently to place that separate from the Left. Now when you move the Left one it will also move the First one with it. You can grab these and drag them wherever you want. If I move the Left over you can see that move. So if I move the First over to the right you can see that move. You have this T shaped indicator here that indicates the First. You have these triangles pointing down and they represent the Right and Left numbers. You can see rulers here at the top and there are three blue indicators. Now you can also go to View and then Show Ruler, or Command R. But you could select the text here to 0.4 for instance, to have four tenth's of an inch. These arrows here will do it in ¼ inch increments. Now you could set this to whatever you want. So to do a simple hanging indent all we need to do is increase the left number. So this first number here, that takes care of the first line. If we increase the left side you could see it does all the lines except the first one. You would think the left would actually do the same thing as the right and move all of the lines over to the right. Likewise the right side makes a right indent. You could set that to whatever you want or to zero to have it flush left. If you increase the first number here you could see it does a standard indent. Expand Indent, if it's not already expanded, and you'll see First, Left, and Right. Here you'll see several different categories. Then you want to go to Format and click on Layout. As long as the cursor is somewhere blinking in the paragraph. You need to put your cursor somewhere in the paragraph. So let's take a deep dive into several ways to do it.įirst let's look at a very basic hanging indent. But there are some variations that can be more useful than just the standard hanging indent. What happens to Pugsley in Dead End: Paranormal Park?Īs Barney is about to be possessed by Temeluchus, Pugsley runs and jumps in front of the laser that was about to hit Barney to save him. A demon king named Temeluchus was looking for a body to possess and he chose Barney. What is the real reason for the job interview at Dead End?īarney and Norma thought they were being interviewed for a position to work at the haunted house, but it was actually a cover-up for something sinister. Apparently, the haunted house was shut down for a year due to the incident and now it’s about to open back up. When Norma and Barney enter the Dead End haunted house for their job interviews, Norma explains to Barney what happened the night of Jennifer Swan’s disappearance. The woman we meet in the opening scene was actually a Pauline impersonator, Jennifer Swan, who worked at Phoenix Parks. Based on how Norma reacts when Pauline Phoenix is mentioned and the fact that she knows everything about her, I think it’s safe to say that Norma is a huge fan of hers. Pauline Phoenix runs the theme park Phoenix Parks. We were really able to figure it out when Barney says, “Did you tell her Barney would be there?” Also, when the mom says, “There’s a lot she doesn’t understand.” Who is Pauline Phoenix? It looks like Barney’s grandmother doesn’t accept his gender identity as a trans boy. Why doesn’t Barney want to see his grandmother in Dead End: Paranormal Park?īarney doesn’t specifically say why he doesn’t want to have dinner with his grandmother, but viewers can figure it out based on his conversation with his mother. Then, Barney leaves the house with his dog, Pugsley. The mom hesitantly replies that she did, but Barney can tell she’s lying. Barney doesn’t look happy about the news, and he asks his mom if she told the grandmother that he’d be there. As Barney is about to head out of his house, his mom tells him his grandmother will come over later that night. The next scene shows two teenagers, Barney and Norma, getting ready for their job interviews at a theme park called Phoenix Parks. The woman screams and then it cuts to the title card. The lights flicker off and then on, and suddenly the evil woman appears in front of the woman. But suddenly, the lights start flickering and an evil woman that looks just like her appears in the glass mirrors. When the woman looks around the room, she realizes she’s in a room full of glass mirrors. While the mystery being chases her through the house, the woman seemingly makes it to safety in a room. She runs into an old-fashioned-looking house to hide, but the mystery being follows. The opening scene to Dead End: Paranormal Park episode 1 was pretty thrilling! The show opens with a woman running away from a mystery person or some supernatural entity during a storm.
